This purse is handmade and woven on a traditional pedal loom using hand-spun natural wool. The fibers are dyed with a blend of walnut and marigold (pericón) , creating a harmonious mix of the wool’s natural tones with warm grays and soft golden undertones. At the center is a Zapotec star symbol, a motif that has appeared in valley textiles for more than two thousand years, reflecting the way the night sky and the natural world have long inspired the artistry of this region. The Chavez Ranch sits at the base of the mountain where the Zapotec tribes first came to the Teotitlán del Valle. Features a deep zippered pocket and a leather strap. Each element reflects the ancestral dye traditions and weaving heritage of the Oaxacan valley. Size is 11” × 16” ($85)
